Granite is a naturally occurring stone. It’s dense, durable, and non-reactive to acids or heat, and is, therefore, a popular choice for homeowners who want a low-maintenance countertop. Granite still requires sealing, but far less frequently than marble.

Quartz, on the other hand, is a manmade material, made of resin and crushed stone. You do not seal quartz but you should be careful to not place hot pans directly onto a quartz slab’s surface. Please visit us to see and experience the difference between the different options.

According to the National Association of Home Builders, 62% of millennial homebuyers still prefer granite/natural stone countertops. Call us today to get started choosing the stone for your countertops.
Quartzite is a natural stone. It’s denser than granite and has a similar durability.

Quartzite is not the same as quartz, which is a manmade material.

We have an extensive supply of both quartz and quartzite in our Massachusetts location.
Yes! It is our job to help provide you with the selection of your stone. After your stone has been chosen, we will coordinate with your fabricator to make sure the slabs match and, once requested by your fabricator, will be delivered in a timely manner. We work with hundreds of stone countertop fabricators throughout New England and we hope to take any worry about your project off your plate.
In most cases, mild soap and water are fine for day-to-day cleanings. Do not use any cleaners with a grit in their fomula as it may begin to take the sealant of you top. It is also recommended to ask your fabricator if there is a cleaner they suggest, as sometimes a specific cleaner works better depending on the manner in which it is sealed.
Depending on the brand of sealant originally used and whether your stone is on an interior or exterior surface, your stone should be re-sealed anywhere from every six months to every five years. Please ask your fabricator as it can depend on the manner that they sealed your top.

If your stone isn’t beading water or if you can see that water is absorbing and making the stone darker, you need to re-seal the stone.
